It’s Chastin Miles. If you’ve been in real estate any amount of time, I’m sure you’ve seen an advertisement for a real estate seminar to teach you a thing or two. They’re everywhere! But get this, I wouldn’t go to another one of those things if someone paid me.
Real estate seminars are the biggest waste of time for any Realtor. Just in case you’ve never been, here’s how they go: There’s an advertisement that starts circulating around social media offering “free tickets” to a seminar. Oftentimes it’s a seminar that will “teach you” how to create wealth. A few of them have titles like– “Invest in real estate with no money”, “Become a millionaire in less than a year”, “How to own tax lien properties for $0”. Again, they’re everywhere. But what’s interesting about these are…rarely do people achieve the goal they promise!! Surprise? Why is that?
People attend these seminars all over the country yet less than 1% of them actually achieve the goal that they originally intended. Here’s the reason that is. The goal of the seminar host is, unfortunately, the same goal as the consumer who attends. “But that sounds crazy Chastin, can you elaborate?” Absolutely! The goal of the consumer who attends is of course to make money AND the goal of the seminar host is to make money. Except for the goal of the seminar host is to make money off of the consumer.
It doesn’t align not one bit yet there are people who attend these seminars day in and day out. Surprisingly, many of them are agents just like us. Agent’s who spend their time looking for secrets from people whose goals do not align with ours. That’s why I don’t attend real estate seminars. They are a waste of time and they are only trying to make money in the end.
There’s a bigger lesson in this. The lesson is for you to really evaluate what “seminars” you are attending on a daily basis. Where are you showing up to and who are you listening to? Think to yourself, are their goals your goals? If not, before long, you will feel the same way I do about real estate seminars.
